Cowboys Offense Continues to Dominate | Jets Recap

For the third game of the season the Dallas offense scored 37+ points in a game, they are 2-0-1 in those games. The offense is No. 1 in the NFL. Dak Prescott is 2nd in the NFL in pass yards. Javonte Williams is 2nd in rush yards. George Pickens is 2nd in receiving TDs. Jake Ferguson is 2nd in receptions.

A 37-22 victory for the Cowboys in MetLife Stadium against the New York Jets. The Cowboys overcame the setback of missing 4 of the 5 usual starters on the offensive line, coupled with missing two starting wide receivers.

Owner and General Manager Jerry Jones gave credit to Head Coach Brian Schottenheimer and his coaching staff for overcoming those injuries as the offense did not miss a beat.

“This was a coaching staff win today. I haven’t been a part of a team band-aided up as much as we were to come play this game. Of course, Dak played outstanding. But this was done by a lot of guys we weren’t counting on playing. I can tell you firsthand, that’s coaching.”

Dak Prescott

As highlighted in the ‘keys to victory’ Dak took control of the game and managed the offense, even missing his number one receiving option Ceedee Lamb. In the two games without CeeDee Lamb, Dak Prescott has thrown for 559 yards and 7 touchdowns on 71% completion.

Dak Prescott completed 18 of 29 passes for 237 yards and 4 touchdowns in the Cowboys’ win against the Jets.

Dak led two 90+ yard drives in the second quarter, one drive started at the Cowboys 9-yard line after the defense forced a fumble on Breece Hall.

Going back to something Brian Schottenheimer talked about before the season started, being able to capitalize on momentum. Which turned a potential tie game into a two score lead.

Cowboys led 23-3 at halftime.

Javonte Williams

Continuing his weekly great performances, Williams continues to take over the running back position. Proving that this isn’t a rotational system and he is the bellcow back.

Williams forced seven missed tackles and gained 76 yards after missed tackles, both season highs. Including a 3 and 1 situation where the initial contact was 3 yards behind the line of scrimmage. Williams broke free and picked up the first down, which eventually led to the opening TD for Dallas.

Javonte Williams rushed for a season-high 135 yards and one touchdown on 16 carries in Week 10, including a 66-yard run with 29 seconds remaining in the first half.
Ryan Flournoy

A 6th-round draft pick in 2024, had just 14 targets last season. The Cowboys were missing two contributors, Ceedee Lamb and Kavontae Turpin, on offense. Flournoy stepped in and stepped up.

6 catches for 114 yards. He had more yards today than he had all last season.

Flournoy had two notable downfield catches that led the Cowboys to scoring drives.

Ryan Flournoy now enters the conversation to hold a bigger role, next up is Carolina. Turpin will likely be out again, and Lamb will be questionable going into the week.

Cowboy Defense

For a defense that has been getting torched this season, 32nd in just about every passing defensive metric. They gave up some deep plays by Fields later in the game but overall capitalized on a Jets offense that gives the ball away a lot.

The defensive line created pressure and made contact with the quarterback, a few times a little too much contact with two roughing the passer calls. Fields was pressured on 50.9% of his dropbacks.

James Houston usually gets the least amount of snaps on the dline, but he does plenty with what he’s given. He now leads the Cowboys in sacks with 3 on the year.

“It just shows you that he’s got those kinds of skills. We know that he needs to work on the run. Guess what? We had a pass rusher around here, the way to box him in was to run at him, but he could really rush the passer. This guy really is rushing the passer beyond my expectation.” Jerry Jones said after the game…including a little shot at you know who.

Though the team gave up 113 rushing yards to Breece Hall, the linebackers were busy making tackles all over the field. Rookie Shemar James led the team in tackles by a wide margin with 15.

Credit Marist Liufau for creating the turnover in the redzone. Donovan Ezeriaku stopped the QB sneak for the turnover on downs at midfield in the 4th quarter.

The Cowboys will continue their road trip, onto Carolina next, a team they have had success against in the past.
