The Biggest Test

The Cowboys are on a 3-game win streak and if there was anytime to get hot in an NFL season, its late November heading into December. While the Cowboys can’t change the past, they need to focus on each opponent ahead of them if they want to make a push at the post season.

The Lions are suffering the most shock over the run of the Chicago Bears, Detroit is 2-3 after their bye week and although they sit at a nice 7-5 record, they are on the brink of missing the playoffs.

Just goes to show how competitive the NFC is this season. The Bears lead the North at 9-3 followed by the 8-3-1 Green Bay Packers. The Lions need to get back into the win column now if they want to push for the division…or even stay in the wild card.

As the NFC West has 3 teams with 9 wins taking up spots in the current picture: LA Rams (9-3), Seattle Seahawks (9-3), and San Francisco 49ers (9-4).

The Lions have struggled a tad with their offense, and they will go into Thursday Night likely without Amon-Ra St. Brown. They have had some injuries on the offensive line and are missing star TE Sam LaPorta.

The plan for Dallas is to get after QB Jared Goff. Detroit’s offense is focused around getting the ball out quickly. NFL Next Gen Stats have 59% of his yards being from yards after the catch.

Jameson Williams has been a key contributor to this YAC-heavy passing attack, accumulating 340 yards after catch. Also look for the runners, Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery to be the focal points of the Lions offense.

The Cowboys have played well against the run in recent weeks, but that was against offenses with one focal runner (Barkley and Jeanty). This week once they start wearing one guy down…it comes the other.

Be prepared for a lot of motion and misdirection, trick plays and the whole bag to be emptied out by Dan Campbell.

For the Cowboys a win this week means rest. They will get a weekend to recovery and reflect on the potential of their future. With back to back home games and then finishing the division on the road.

The cowboys have peaked, but have they peaked too late?
