Philadelphia makes their way to Dallas for the second game of the series. This game comes at an interesting time for the Cowboys. This begins their stretch of 3 games in 11 days. They will be on a short week with back to back Thursday Night games following this.
As the Cowboys are trying to hold onto a little bit of playoff hope…the Eagles are on their 3rd game out of their bye week, and have yet to score 20 points. The Eagles are a winning team, but they do so by physically draining their opponents.
If they don’t need to score 20 to win…they wont. They rely on a defense that drains all energy and momentum out of opposing offenses. The Cowboys are a team that typically scores 30+ a game, lets see what happens when these two units meet.

| DALLAS | PHILADELPHIA |
|---|---|
| DeMarvion Overshown: His speed will be necessary in running down Jalen Hurts. His snap count will be lifted more as he gets back to 100% | Jalen Carter: After his mishap week 1, this is a chance at redemption, could be playing with some vengeance. |
| Javonte Williams: Playing a physical defense, he will be hit in the backfield. Needs to power through those hits, turn negatives into a positive. | Dallas Goedert: Covering tightends is always tricky for Dallas. He will make plays on 3rd downs when they need a stop. |
| Caelen Carson: As he played all defensive snaps as the starting corner. In his new role, he will be matched up with a more physical guy in AJ Brown. | Jaelan Phillips: New piece to the Eagles unit, he has played well so far for their pass rush. He will look to make a name for himself in this rivalry. |
The Keys to Victory-
1 – Win the Trenches.
The Eagles have beasts on both sides of the ball when it comes to line play. The Cowboys will have to see Jalen Carter this time around. Dallas needs the Tyler’s to hold up in this one: Booker, Smith and Guyton.
Usually in physical games, the Cowboys can get away from the run too quickly. They have had a lot of success from Javonte Williams, and it isn’t something they should give up on too quickly. This is where the Eagles kill teams, one they get one dimensional.
The Cowboys now have some new looks in their front seven. The Eagles rely on their run game and clock management. You will have to slow them down, and force turnovers. This team doesn’t make a lot of mistakes.
This also includes keeping Jalen Hurts in the pocket.
2 – Rely on Playmakers.
When you have two great players like Ceedee Lamb and George Pickens, you count on them to step up in difficult games. Everyone needs to be on the same page for Sunday.
Lamb now fully back from his injury, and getting more comfortable in the system. Pickens is 2nd in the NFL with 908 receiving yards and tied for 3rd with 7 receiving touchdowns in 2025.
These two had a great game against Vegas, and its time to build off that.
3 – Don’t Let Off the Gas.
Jalen Hurts has 8 wins in his career when he has fewer than 150 passing yards, which are the most by any player since he entered the NFL in 2020. The Eagles have won games by keeping them low scoring.
The slow paced game is what they want you to play. You have to avoid the quick 3-and-outs and you have little room for mistakes like turnovers.
If you get the chance to keep running up the score, do it. Let the Eagles play the shootout game. Maybe then we will see what their offense is really about.
The Cowboys are clawing to keep their postseason hopes alive. This is a team that they always play close when healthy, regardless of record.
