Quick note — this is just some ideas jotted down quickly, just to make sure every rumor is out there.
The Dallas Cowboys pick at No. 12 & 20 tomorrow, and there’s been a lot of noise about what direction they could go. It feels like one of the more unpredictable spots in the draft.
A new rumor that’s been gaining traction is Dallas looking at a wide receiver. Specifically, Jordyn Tyson out of Arizona State.
That one started popping up after an ESPN mock draft. Personally, it feels like more of a smokescreen than anything real.
I’d be surprised if Tyson even makes it to 12. He feels much more likely to land with the New York Giants around pick 10.
Another thing I’ve been hearing- Dallas may be out on Reuben Bain and Akeem Mesidor. Bain’s arm length is a concern, and Mesidor feels like more of a fan-driven name than a true top target.
The Cowboys still seem to be in on the main defensive group. That includes Caleb Downs, Sonny Styles, and Mansoor Delane.
Delane feels like the most realistic option to actually be there at 12. He might end up being the cleanest projection for Dallas right now.
I don’t see Sonny Styles getting past the Giants at No. 5. That feels like one of the more locked-in connections in the top 10.
There’s a scenario where the Giants go offense there, maybe someone like Jeremiah Love. But even then, Styles still feels like the most likely pick.
With Caleb Downs, it’s hard to see the Giants passing on him twice if they have the opportunity. They could easily go defense first, then offense.
The New Orleans Saints and Washington Commanders are both teams to watch for wide receivers early. That could impact how the board falls for Dallas.
If Styles somehow makes it to around pick 7, the Commanders feel like a real landing spot. That’s probably where his slide would end.
Reuben Bain is a wild card right now. He could fall further than expected, with teams like the Saints or Kansas City Chiefs as possible fits.
The Miami Dolphins feel like the biggest trade-back candidate in the draft. They look like a team that wants to move off pick 11 and add more assets.
If Miami stays put, they could go with someone like Mansoor Delane. Wide receiver is also in play for them.
As for Dallas trading, it doesn’t feel that likely. Everything points more toward them sticking and picking at 12 and 20.
The only trade-up that really makes sense is a small jump. Moving up to around pick 9 with Kansas City to get ahead of the Giants.
Anything bigger than that feels unlikely. If anything, trading back is more realistic than a big move up.
At pick 20, a couple of names keep coming up. Malachi Lawrence, edge, UCF and Colton Hood, cornerback, Tennessee.
Both have been consistently linked to Dallas. That feels like a range where they’ll address edge or corner.
Linebacker is still in play there too. CJ Allen and Jacob Rodriguez are names to watch, but that feels more like filling a need than targeting a top-tier guy.
